(SEPT. 2006) AALBORG PORTLAND IS the largest cement manufacturer of white cement in the world. In Denmark alone they distribute 3 million tons of grey and white cement delivered from 11 plants with approximately 100 trucks.
Aalborg Portland has since 1993 used a bespoken transportation planning solution from Transvision. When the company recently was acquired by Cementia, Italy they changed their ERP system to SAP and in the same loop they chose to update their planning solution to the standard system Transvision Fleet Planner.
Transvision Fleet Planner will be integrated with SAP and the terminal system Scanvægt via Biztalk. Scanvægt receives the route list for the drivers’ Transvision Fleet Planner and sends the status information about arrival and departure at the terminals back to Transvision Fleet Planner.
The new planning solution offers a number of new features that will improve Aalborg Portland’s transportation planning, but mainly it will improve the automatic planning performance significantly and introduce stronger consequence calculation facilities.
By changing to a standard Transvision planning tool Aalborg Portland will now benefit from a standardised error handling via help-desk and from the updates of the ongoing development of the standard system.
The new system is expected to go live after New Year.
