(JUN. 2006) GRUPO UNILAND STARTS PHASE two and implements Transvision Fleet Planner for planning of aggregates.
Uniland is a major construction materiel company in Catalonia, Spain. Uniland is operating a large amount of production facilities covering production of concrete, cement, mortar, and aggregates.
In July 2005 Uniland decided to buy Transvision Fleet Planner as its new real-time based distribution planning solution. From the beginning the intention was to implement the solution for all four divisions in three phases.
The first phase has been completed, and the solution has been implemented for planning and execution of the concrete distribution. Phase two has just started, and the last phase is to follow where the solution will be rolled out for planning of mortar and cement.
Uniland chose Transvision Fleet Planner because they want a unified and coordinated operation. The system is implemented for each of the four divisions but with different configurations, since the logistics are very different between the four divisions.
In total there are about 650 vehicles to manage every day, which make communication between the divisions a necessity to coordinate the whole operation. The system will help Uniland to gain control of the entire operation.
Transvision Fleet Planner will be closely integrated with the ERP system, Siebel, and on truck computers. This means that the incremental planning carried out by Transvision Fleet Planner at all times will be based on the latest status information on orders, terminals, and trucks making the system a truly real-time based system.
