(OCT. 2006) WISSWOOD AB
manufactures and distributes wood pellets and splints to customers in Sweden. They have implemented Transvision Route Planner to improve planning efficiency and minimise transportation costs.

Selling and distribution of wood pellets and splints is a fast growing business in Sweden because of the products’ popularity as bedding for flowers and animals plus its industrial use both as fuel and in the production of wood material, and not least for heating of private houses.

Wisswood is expecting a growth in its vehicle fleet from the present 4 trucks. Planning at Wisswood is complicated because the trucks have several different load capabilities and can be configured according to the products loaded on the truck.

This is needed because the pellets and splints are transported in different packaging and compartments and cannot be mixed. Apart from this, due to the large distances in Sweden, some vehicles are on route for several days while some do short multiple day trips.

Transvision Route Planner was therefore chosen because of its ability to perform week-plans and plans for the specific truck configurations.

At Wisswood, Transvision Route Planner is integrated with the ERP-system Mobilast from Hogia. Once a week the orders are moved from Mobilast to Transvision Route Planner for one big batch planning. After the orders are planned the routes are exported to both the warehouse and the drivers as detailed route lists.

The system is sold and implemented via Transvision’s close partner LogistikCentrum AB from Mölndal in Sweden. LogistikCentrum is a company with 10 consultants working within logistic consulting. You can find contact data for LogistikCentrum here.
