(JUNE 2007) VERHELST BUILDING MATERIALS, which is a part of the West-Flander Belgium Groep Verhelst, has chosen Transvision Fleet Planner to support the centralisation of their dispatching processes.
Groep Verhelst is a renowned group of companies which is mostly active in the building and transport sector. Groep Verhelst provides masonry, finishing, road works, building materials, international transport, harbour services and building waste recycling.
The largest operating company in the Group is Verhelst Building Materials, which not only supplies contractors and individuals, but also produces pre-fabricated concrete building elements, like floor plates, terraces and stairs. Verhelst Building Materials has 30 trucks that both distribute building materials to Verhelst customers as well as picking up raw materials and stock from suppliers and production sites.
Transvision Fleet Planner was chosen by Verhelst because of the system’s ability to cope with the specific distribution logics and the demands from the planner regarding user-friendliness. Ward Germonpré, IT manager at Verhelst explains, “Transvision Fleet Planner was the only system that could cope with the specific demands of our dispatchers. The solution immediately felt ´natural´”.
On top of this, Transvision Fleet Planner’s open service oriented architecture fits perfectly with our Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) concept. Through the same ESB Transvision Fleet Planner will receive orders from the ERP system and will communicate live with the on-board-computer system in our trucks.
Ward Germonpré concludes: “With this setup, any delays will be expedited and consequences will be automatically calculated. We expect that the real-time planning, which is facilitated by Transvision Fleet Planner, will not only optimise the routes and reduce costs but also allow the dispatchers more flexibility to serve our customers proactively, which is still our first priority.”.
This fall, the Transvision system will be implemented at Verhelst Building Materials and will, together with their new ERP system ORDA II, go live per January 1st 2008.
