(MAR 2010) BERNER DENMARK HAS DECIDED to implement Transvision Route Planner to optimise the routes of the sales force. Field sales is a vital part of the core business, as it accounts for a large part of the operating costs. It is therefore also an area which necessitates a high degree of operational efficiency.

Berner Denmark sells and delivers materials and tools for the construction and automotive industry all across Denmark. The company employs 180 people, of which approximately half are in the sales department. Berner Denmark is part of the Berner Group, one of the leading European suppliers within its area. The group employs 8,000 people, is represented in more than 22 countries, and has a revenue of approx. 900 billion euros.

In Berner Denmark, every sales person operates with 400 customer visits within 20-day sales periods. Each visit follows a specific visit pattern and frequency depending on the size of and revenue generated by the customer.

Prioritising customers and creating plans manually is an extremely difficult task. When planned manually, customers are not always visited with the proper frequency, and routes are often somewhat inefficient.

Berner wanted to realise their efficiency potential with a system for automatic optimisation and decided on the advanced route planning system Transvision Route Planner.
