(JULY 2010) SWEDISH OIL COMPANY OKQ8 has decided to implement Transvision Oil Planner for the purpose of optimising the distribution of fuel products to private and industrial customers as well as petrol stations across Sweden.
OKQ8 is one of the leading oil and petrol retailers in Sweden, with approximately 800 petrol stations, a market share of 28 % within petrol retailing, and a yearly revenue of 2.4 billion euros.
Distances in Sweden are large, and transport therefore makes up a relatively large proportion of OKQ8’s costs. Consequently, the costs can be reduced drastically by optimising the transport and implementing a new planning system.
Therefore, OKQ8 has recently initiated a new project with a view to optimising the company’s transport, and the investment in Transvision Oil Planner is a great part of that project. The intentions behind the recently acquired transport planning system are clear: OKQ8 wants to reduce mileage and, through that, the company’s carbon footprint. At the same time, OKQ8 wishes to improve the utilisation of their vehicles, which will not only lead to a cost reduction but also to less pressure on the roads. Moreover, Transvision Oil Planner will contribute to OKQ8’s efforts to ensure accurate deliveries, flexibility and a high level of customer service.
OKQ8 chose Transvision Oil Planner due to its high level of industry-specific functionality and its proven track record in mastering the complexity of fuel distribution. Strict, enforced rules for fuel distribution and a highly dynamic environment are some of the challenges faced by retailers in the oil and petrol industry. These challenges, along with many others, are efficiently handled by Transvision Oil Planner through advanced functionalities such as loading suggestions, compartment planning, calculations relating to product substitution, planning involving liquids, rolling and real-time optimisation, and insertion of urgent orders during execution.
OKQ8’s transport and distribution operations are extensive, and the company’s transport challenge is highly interesting. Together with OKQ8, Transvision will continue developing Transvision Oil Planner, leading to even more sophisticated functionalities targeted at the oil industry.
